E-Z Fix to Drop in Shower Pressure

home inspection water pressure As Western New York’s premier home and commercial property inspection company, we have seen our share of old and tired plumbing.  And, I am pretty sure we have all experienced the dreaded drop in water pressure when someone flushes the toilet while showering.

There is a fix so simple you will kick yourself for not thinking of it sooner.  Here’s how…

  • In almost all cases you will find a water shut-off valve under the toilet tank.  Usually, this valve is fully open, allowing water to rush into the tank and causing the water pressure to drop.
  •  Close the valve to ¼ or ½ open; water will flow slower to the toilet tank and the drop in water pressure at the shower will be significantly reduced.

The result, of course, is a more relaxing shower and fewer third degree burns from a spike in the water temperature.
